Hendry eyes World Open success
Seven-time world champion Stephen Hendry says he is fired up for the new season and intends to open his account with victory at September's World Open.
The 41-year-old, who secured all of his World Championship victories between 1990 and 1999, failed to progress past the quarter-finals of a ranking event last season despite a world ranking of 11.
But the Scot insists he is ready to right that wrong and emerge victorious from the 128-strong field, which includes 2009 winner and reigning world champion Neil Robertson and Ronnie O'Sullivan, in front of a home crowd.
"That's not the kind of consistency I'm looking for, it's about winning titles," said Hendry, who won his last ranking title in 2005.
"I'm always enthusiastic when the new season comes around, so I just have to keep trying and see what happens.
"It's the one tournament we have in Scotland, and with the new format [best of five frames] there's no doubt it's going to be exciting."
