The last day for The Shanghai Masters Q. ... and what a day! We had tension, we had drama, lots of nerves, happiness, sadness all of these spiced up with some unexpected situations and some...well, great snooker. :)

Alfie Burden, the one who was a major hit here at the Sheffield Academy during this competition lost to the guy with what seems to be a fated name for snooker, Andrew Higginson :) (5-4). The match made its debut with 1-1, continued with 2-2, but Andrew was the first to take the lead 4-2. Alfie didn’t give up and balanced the score on 4-4. The last frame was a very tight one (52-40) but Andrew was the winner. Also he made a spectacular 132 break, isn’t this cool?

But the drama doesn’t stop here. Noooooo! It continues with the match between Mark Davis and the Thai (wait, wait for the copy-paste :)))Thanawat Tiraipongpaiboon. Surprisingly, or not! Mark claimed the victory (5-4).
In a similar situation, Fergal O’Brien, the one who made Brazil say “Bye, bye China"! in the third round lost to world number 30, Ken Doherty with, what seems to be the most popular score of the day, 5-4.

I can’t skip the beautiful victory of the six-time world champion Steve Davis over Rod Lawler (5-0), or the one that Mr. " I don’t think I can play at my best" Peter Ebdon, had over Michael White (5-1). Also, world number 33, Mike Dunn made a smashing 5-0 over Andy Hicks.

On the other side, the "made in China" dream is over for Barry Hawkins, who left the competition by losing 5-4 to Martin Gould, for the Chinese wonder-boy Anda Zhang, who lost 5-2 to Matthew Stevens, for Jamie Jones, who’s spectacular performance here at the academy will be definitely remembered and Joe Perry.

Here, you can see the final results. Enjoy! :P

So, the happy gang which will pay a visit to Shanghai metropolis in September is represented by: Jamie Burnett, Andrew Higginson, Mark Davis, Judd Trump, Ricky Walden, Ken Doherty, Steve Davis (hurray! :p), Robert Milkins, Dave Harold, Stuart Bingham, Matthew Stevens, Stephen Lee, Mike Dunn, Martin Gould, Joe Delaney and Peter Ebdon.

A very, very intense competition ends, but the Sheffield Academy is preparing for another one, for PTC 3 is about to start!

Congratulations to all the players and see you all at the Grand Stage Shanghai! :)))
