"I`m walking on sunshine wohooo...I`m walking on ...."
After four days of intense snooker, the Snooker Academy from Sheffield closes its doors for a well deserved break. With the winter holidays just around the corner and the last 16 players ready to set their feet into next year’s German Masters, things are falling into place.
Yesterday marked the last day of competition and as always the last day was also the hardest one; a lot of surprises as players who performed really well lost their final battle.

At the end of the day, the last Thai standing was (of course) people’s champion, the boy with an impossible name to pronounce, give it up for "Double T" the man to be - Thanawat Thirapongpaiboon (sure it would have been funnier if I was screaming, but you’ll just have to use your imagination for that :-P). He defeated Barry Hawkins 5-2 to make it to Berlin and smell the ham :-P

"Double T" - the man to be!
A very good performance was also registered by the youngster Jack Lisowski, who won over EPTC 3 event winner Marcus Campbell 5-3, but also for Nigel Bong who succeeded in defeating a pretty amazing Chinese - Liang Wenbo, by 5-2.

Dominic Dale secured himself a place into the tournament as he eliminated Gerard Greene by a 5-3 result and Stephen Lee proved his good form yet once again as he won 5-2 over Matthew Selt.
Not such a good day for "The Nugget" Steve Davis as he was practically whitewashed by Ryan Day 5-0, as well as Martin Gould who was sent home by Joe Swail by the same scoreline. Surprisingly, the man who stopped "The Rocket" to take off, last week during the UK Championship, Stuart Bingham lost 1-5 to Anthony Hamilton.

Below, we can check the final list of players who will delight the German audience in February.

Stuart Bingham 1 - 5 Anthony Hamilton
Barry Hawkins 2 - 5 Thanawat Thirapongpaiboon
Marcus Campbell 3 - 5 Jack Lisowski
Ken Doherty 4 - 5 Liu Song
Liang Wenbo 2 - 5 Nigel Bond
Judd Trump 5 - 3 Jimmy Robertson
Andrew Higginson 5 - 2 Tony Drago
Matthew Stevens 5 - 3 Simon Bedford
Tom Ford 2 - 5 Anthony McGill
Gerard Greene 3 - 5 Dominic Dale
Joe Perry 5 - 3 Alan McManus
Stephen Lee 5 - 2 Matthew Selt
Ryan Day 5 - 0 Steve Davis
Martin Gould 0 - 5 Joe Swail
Marco Fu 5 - 3 Dave Harold
Mark Davis 4 - 5 Robert Milkins

So this is basically it, my dears! This last event also means that snooker is taking some free time to celebrate Christmas and the New Year ( "he" is a pretty strong individual! :-P), but don’t you worry because the snooker news are always flying by so keep an eye on this blog for the latest. ;-)
