I really don’t know how on earth we end up in December so soon! :-) It seemed like only yesterday we were complaining about the constant heat and now...puff! it’s snowing and going to...well, wherever you want to go, becomes a true adventure.
But there is good news as December also brings LIVE snooker! Yep, the UK Championship is just around the corner and we shall have our share of televised snooker very soon. And although December is not a very busy month for snooker, it is definitely a very important one ;-)

1. UK Championship


When?:4 - 12 December
Where?: Telford, UK
Defending champion: Ding Junhui

Prizes: winner (£100,000), runner-up (£46,000), semi-finals (£23,250), quarter-finals
(£16,450), last 16 (£12,050), last 32 (£8,750), last 48 (£5,500) and the last 64 (£2,300 ).
There are also prizes for the highest break hit in stage 1 (£500) and the highest break hit in stage 2 (£5,000).
Ranking points: winner (8,000), runner-up (6,400), semi-finals (5,120), quarter-finals (4,000), last 16 (3,040), last 32 (2,240) - 1,120*, last 48 (1,840)-920*, last 64 (1,440)-720*, last 80 (1,040)-520* and the last 96 (640)-320*.

2. German Masters Qualifying rounds


When?: 14 - 17 December
Where?: Sheffield, UK
Defending champion: John Parrott (he won the title back in 1998, when the tournament wasn`t a ranking event, this being its return to the professional circuit).
