After eight intensive snooker days, the line was drawn and the winners were picked. We already know the first six that secured a nice place into the UK Championship for themselves, so yesterday was time to know the rest. Ten more matches were completed and ten more lucky players made their dream come true - a fancy trip to Telford :-P

A great day for "The Whirlwind" Jimmy White as he took the lead 6-2 after the first session ending on a final 9-6 the battle against Joe Perry, but also for Mark Davis who put quite a performance by beating Joe Swail 7-1 and 9-7.
Mike Dunn was sent home by Patrick Wallace with an incredible 9-1 scoreline and Jamie Burnett lost 5-9 to Ryan Day, after a pretty balanced first session 4-4.
Andrew Higginson eliminated Dominic Dale by performing a 5-3 and finally a 9-6 lead and as for one of the best Chinese left in the competition Liang Wenbo, the little guy didn’t make it to the real tournament, being beaten by Rory McLeod 3-5 and 6-9.

The matches that needed to finalise their results have showed us the last four players who will appear live on our TV screens starting this weekend, as Barry Hawkins beat the Irish Fergal O’Brien 9-3, Stuart Bingham defeated Peter Lines by a 9-4 scoreline, the 1997 world champion, Ken Doherty eliminated Rod Lawler 9-7 and Ricky Walden ended Liu Chuang`s run while sealing with a tight 9-8 result.

So, reviewing the last eight days, the following players qualified to play in this year’s UK Championship:

Matthew Stevens
Tom Ford
Martin Gould
Stephen Lee
Mark Joyce
Judd Trump
Jimmy White
Mark Davis
Patrick Wallace
Ryan Day
Andrew Higginson
Rory McLeod

The above players will face the top 16 players on their way to conquering the UK Championship crown. :-P See you in a few days for some live snooker! ;-)
