Jamie Cope, the second name into the Last 16
As the second day of this grand tournament started, one of the two matches due to open the series of daily snooker encounters sent one more player into the next round, Jamie Cope succeeding to beat Andrew Pagett 10-7 after a second session that lost its rhythm towards the end. On table number two, the little but powerful Chinese Ding Junhui overwhelmed Jamie Burnett as he ended their first session on a 8-1 partial result.


Cope and Pagett ended their first encounter on a 5-4 scoreline in favor of the first named player and the second one was going to be finished in the same way. Breaks of 31 and 53 were putting Cope in the lead with a 7-4 advantage, while his opponent wasn’t able to win more than one frame with a bit of help from a 42 break.

Pink is not the winner`s color
The 13th frame saw the boys ending on a very tight result 60-60, so the black ball was re-spoted in order to pick the winner of this frame. Cope was the one who potted the little crazy black ball, but he also won the following frame with a top break of 51 as to go just one step away from victory, 9-5.


Sister Hope was in the Crucible arena without doubt as Pagett started to have a more fluent game and cashed the next two frames with runs of 37 and 54. It was 9-7 in favor of Cope, but the "Shotgun" was struggling to keep up with his "resurrected" opponent.
However, one more frame was going to be played, a very scrappy one to be honest, but also a very lucky one for Jamie Cope, who trailed to end the match with a 10-7 final score.


Ding Junhui makes a very good start
Ding Junhui and Jamie Burnett, the two "ice figures" of snooker were playing their first session on table two and if I were to compare this match to any other one, I would have to say that Carter v. Harold is by far the best choice. Burnett had plenty of opportunities to build himself some nice and steady breaks, but somehow he didn’t manage to keep his turn on the table, Ding coming and cleaning it.
Breaks of 52, 117, 62, 40 and 84 were bringing Ding a 7-0 lead, while a tiny but valuable 45 was avoiding Burnet to be whitewashed. One more 42 from Ding and the first session was finished on an 8-1 result.
