UK Championship 2011 (the qualifiers) - Who's going to York

We've reached the finish line
"Do not pass Go! Don not collect 200!" - how many of you haven't have received this card while playing Monopoly? For some of the players the were in action for the last four days in Gloucester, this message, though a bit altered, was received last night. For the rest however, the "Congratulations, you're going to York!" was the conveyed message.

Although Jimmy White saw his UK Championship dream being postponed as he lost the penultimate round of the qualifiers and during the last day Ken Doherty lost by the ingrate scoreline of 6-5 to Peter Lines, the rest of the legends were a bit luckier (which doesn't mean they didn't fight for the victory). Steve Davis managed to defeat the PTC 5 winner Andrew Higginson 6-2, while Stephen Hendry showed he is really determined to win back his pole position, applying the same scoreline to the OnQ Promotions lad, Gerard Greene.

Hendry's still kicking ass
And since I mentioned the Pink Army, I must also add that Dominic Dale will be packing his bags for York after winning 6-4 over the Bond of snooker, Nigel Bond, followed by Mark Davis who had to take down one of his pink comrades, the youngster Michael White by 6-2, while Robert Milkins defeated Peter Ebdon 6-4.

But no everything went smooth and well in the "Pink Paradise", for Barry Hawkins lost 6-2 in front of Rory McLeod, an experience that Jamie Jones had by playing Ricky Walden too, while Joe Perry was defeated 6-4 by Adrian Gunnell.

The Chinese team can be proud of its members, Li Yan and Marco Fu managing to grab a place in York, while Ryan Day made all the Welshmen happy when he performed the second whitewash of the day, 6-0 over Jamie Burnett. I say the second, because the first one was made by Tom Ford who kneeled down Xiao Guodong.

Marcus Campbell, Michael Selt and Joe Jogia booked themselves a place at the venue also after defeating Ben Woollaston 6-3, Mark King 6-4 and respectively Jamie Cope 6-3.
