Allen to face disciplinary
After Mark Allen's yesterday press conference from the Barbican Centre in York where the UK Championship is taking place, World Snooker has made the following announcement. It reads:

"Following Mark Allen's use of inappropriate language in his press conference at the williamhill.com UK Championship, he has been referred to the WPBSA's disciplinary committee as he is in breach of tournament rules and could be charged with bringing the game into disrepute.

"World Snooker's governing body, the WPBSA, expects its members to behave in a manner which is appropriate to their status as professional sportsmen.

"At a time when our sport is growing fast on a global scale and we are encouraging greater participation among young people, we expect players to be role models and take the issue of their behaviour very seriously.

"World Snooker will make no further comment until after the disciplinary hearing."

Just to recall the facts, after winning 6-3 over Adrian Gunnell, Mark Allen criticised Barry Hearn's decision of shortening the format of the UK Championship accusing him of "ruining" the sport.

"When Barry came in, one of the first things he said was that the World Championship, UK and Masters wouldn't be touched. Only 18 months later, the UK format has changed.

"The players don't really matter, so **** the players.

"I don't think he's pleasing too many players, but anyone who voted for him has only got themselves to blame. I wasn't one of them. I've got no doubt he'll tweak the World Championship. The whole tradition of the game is going to pot. It's not all about bringing people in to watch and have a good time, shouting and having a drink.

"He needs to get away from the darts factor. It's getting close to that."

The Northern-Ireland's player has also added that:

"I think in the long run he'll probably do good for snooker, but not for my generation. It's time to let someone else have a go."

It's not a secret that this isn't just Allen's view of things, many players rising their eyebrows in front of certain decisions that Hearn has took in the time he's been Chairman of World Snooker.

Still, not everyone's agreeing, Mark Williams being one of them. After winning 6-4 over Joe Jogia last evening, the Welshman said:

"I couldn't be more opposite (to Allen).

"I am 200 per cent behind him. I think he has done unbelievable, we should let him get on with it. I'd rather play 17 frames obviously, but things have got to change and he's the man to do it. Let's let him get on with it."
