Welshman Day gets into the QFs
Ryan Day booked himself a place in the next round after defeating the last of the remaining Chinese players in this tournament, Cao Yupeng by 13-7.

The Welshman took a comfortable lead of 6-2 over the Chinese opponent with a bit of help from breaks like 53, 32, 87 and 62 and even if the second session found Day not in such a great form, the player still managed to end it by putting his nose in front.

Cao hit in breaks of 43, 125 and 37 to win no less than three frames in a row and get just one point behind Day at 6-5, but the Welshman acknowledged the danger and used a century break of 112 points to go two frames ahead.

Cao Yupeng's Crucible dream ends here
Once again Cao put himself one point away from drawing level, but like before Day denied him the right to catch up, this time using a break of 72.

The session ended at 9-7 but when the final one started the old memory of a struggling Day just vanished as the Welshman stormed in and took the four needed frames with runs of 113, 53, 87 and 119.

Now, Ryan awaits for the winner of the Matthew Stevens v. Barry Hawkins match to know against who he'll be playing in the quarter-finals.

Ronnie O'Sullivan took a 5-3 lead over Mark Williams, while in the other match Ali Carter flew 5-3 up ahead of Judd Trump.
