Hendry books a place in the QFs
Defending champion, John Higgins saw his Crucible dream crushed by an incredible 13-4 scoreline performed by an eager-to-compete Stephen Hendry.

Hendry started his Crucible journey with a great 147 during the match he played against Stuart Bingham and continued to show the same cue style action against his fellow countryman John Higgins.

Although Higgins took the first two frames of the match, by the end the first session Hendry was way ahead of him at 5-3 using breaks of 81, 69, 123 and 67.

Defending champ, John Higgins was sent home
Things didn't seem to go John's way at returning into the arena either, Stephen extending his lead at 7-3 before Higgins could win his only frame of the second session and of what was left of the match.

The session was ended with Hendry's runs of 48, 43, 66 and 83 that were sending him one step closer to the finish-line at 12-4.

Needless to say that today Higgins come back into arena to only play for his pride, a comeback looking very unlikely from his position.

Sadly he didn’t stay in the arena too much as he missed the pink on 20, Hendry coming to end the match with a break of 64 in order to set a meeting with another fellow countryman, Stephen Maguire, in the quarter-finals.

Hendy and Higgins' reaction after the match can be seen below:
