The Shanghai Masters Q - Day 1
The first day of the Shanghai Masters Q is over, but not without incidents. Since the worldsnooker.com web-site is not updated as fast as global-snooker.com is (I don’t understand why, because it’s the official site...eh, whatever!) I decided to follow the results on global-snooker.com. But, surprise! In the second part of the day, a big red announcement was on the scoring page. It seems that the Sheffield scoring system drop dead, so the boys had to wait for the results "when someone comes out of their booth!" :P
But beside that, it was an exceptional day with beautiful breaks, over 100 points; the Chinese Xiao Guodoung (100,129), Kyren Wilson (103), Michael White (100,101), Liu Chuang (111) and Jamie Jones an incredible 135. Man, it would have been great to see all those breaks, and the entire event for that matter televised, for my snooker dwarf who sits on my brain would have been very, very pleased! :))
It was a good day for the Brazilian Igor Figueiredo who won 5-4 over Jamie O’Neill, but not so good for Jack Lisowski or Andrew Pagett who went home. Also the only lady from the tournament, Reanne Evans (women's world champion) lost 5-1 to Alfie Burden.
Here, you have the results for round one.
The second round seems to be as "hot" as this one, or who knows? Even "hotter"! But we are going to discuss this subject tomorrow, ok? ;)
