The sweet TOP 16

Yep, the magic number 16!
For the Americans "the sweet 16" means you are walking into this crazy and twisted world officially. You’re an adult now, so you can party as long as you like, smoke and drink irresponsibly and get arrested, maybe even get married...you know simple things :-)) Kidding, you shouldn’t do any of those! It marks your coming of age and you get a big celebration party with all your girlfriends....you know, you’ve probably seen it in films...makeup, pompons, a lot of pink, pajama party, dress rehearsal, catwalk rehearsal, singing some Pussycat Dolls song like “When I grow up” and talking about boys :-P

In snooker, 16 means you’re walking on cloud number nine! Yes, sir! If you happen to reach the top 16, than you are officially one of the best. You have a good ranking position, you’re well respected, and you are guaranteed a place in the important tournaments. You are such a VIP! :-)) And…most importantly…you don’t have to do any of those girly things that I’ve told you before :-P

You all know the new way snooker is going now, the "new wave", "the wind of change" call it as you like, implemented by Barry Hearn (this modern Jean Luc Picard of snooker). He guarantees a more fair snooker, a more transparent system and more tournaments. Until now, he’s done quite a job and hopefully his vision will bring more good to snooker.
But let’s return to this "new game order". As I was telling you about a few days ago, after the end of the EPTC 2 event, the ranking points from 2008 Grand Prix were to be deleted and a brand new ranking list was to be released to the public. So it happened and related with this, the new refreshed top 16 list is going to show us who booked a place in the UK Championship (4-12 December in Telford) and the Masters (9-16 January in Wembley).
So boys and girls, according to worldsnooker.com, this is the TOP 16 list:

1. Neil Robertson
2. Ali Carter
3. John Higgins
4. Mark Williams
5. Stephen Maguire
6. Ronnie O'Sullivan
7. Shaun Murphy
8. Ding Junhui
9. Mark Selby
10. Stephen Hendry
11. Graeme Dott
12. Mark Allen
13. Peter Ebdon
14. Jamie Cope
15. Mark King
16. Marco Fu

I leave you with the song of the day that I’ve especially picked for this occasion, just to bring more fun to the game! ;-)
