The Welsh Potting Machine" is unstoppable
The first name to reach this year’s Betfred.com World Championship is a Welsh one: Mark Williams. He’s proved he can keep up that brilliant form that made him win against Ryan Day and Jamie Cope and defeat one more dangerous opponent, Mark Allen 13-5.

We can honestly say that Allen’s form wasn’t the best in town, as he has struggled in both of his previous matches to win, but he did it. I always say that a win it’s a win and more since the man had the strength to comeback in the game. However, this didn’t repeat yesterday, when Williams put an end of his Crucible dream with a devastating 13-5 result.

The last session started with the Welshman leading 10-5 and it was impossible for Allen to win himself at least one more frame. Williams ruled the beginning of the session with a 113 break. Allen  missed a red on 22, the Welshman coming for a 61 that was bringing him the second frame of the day and for the next one, although he could have made a difference, his concentration was all gone.

Mark Allen`s run ends in the quarter-finals
One again Allen started pretty determined but stopped his break on 25, Williams returning only for a 17, due to missing a black. A chance! A chance for the North-Ireland’s man! But unfortunately he didn’t use it right and Williams had the opportunity to get back in the game and hit a 58 for a victory of a 13-5 final scoreline.

Williams will now meet an "old rival", John Higgins in the semis and that it’s going to be a typical clash of titans. Both players have played great throughout the tournament and the whole season, so it’s going to be interesting to see what will happen. One thing is for sure, "The Welsh Potting Machine" is back in business! :-)
