Welsh Open 2012 (Day 4) - Trump sets snooker rendez-vous with O'Sullivan
Judd Trump meets Ronnie O'Sullivan once more |
The lad from Bristol and winner of the 2011 UK Championship, Judd Trump had no difficulty whatsoever to beat Stuart Bingham 4-1 and get a well deserved place in the quarter-finals.
The Australian Open champion, Bingham lost to Trump during the first round of this year's Masters by 6-3, this snooker encounter not going very well either.
Although Stuart was the one to break the ice with a 74 break, when he missed the black off its spot during the next frame on 33, Trump took his chances to draw level with a 73. The next frame saw the youngster hitting another 73, while runs of 100 and 49 were closing the match on a 4-1 result.
Trump is meeting with an old rival, Ronnie O'Sullivan in tomorrow's quarter-finals. The boys had this season's first encounter during the PTC 9 Event final, when the three-time world champion lost 4-3, then it came the UK Championship when he lost again this time by 6-5, the Masters when Trump prevailed once more 6-2 and now here we go again with the Welsh Open. Will O'Sullivan take revenge this time?
Selby will need to rise his game level if he want to win |
However, after runs of 48, 62 and 57 Selby managed to win a battle of cues that lasted for more than two houses with a 4-1 result.
