Barry Pinches wins his first match on the black

The cue-crossings continued yesterday too, the "Thai gang" not finding too much difficulty in flying into the third round, Thepchaiya Un-Nooh beating Adam Duffy 5-3, while Thanawat Tirapongpaiboon hammered Craig Steadman 5-1.

Still, for Passakorn Suwannawat, things didn't go too bright, Mitchell Mann ending the cue battle in his favour with a 5-2 scoreline.

Interestingly enough, the only Chinese player who survived the second day of the Australian Open qualifiers was Cao Yupeng, who beat Alfie Burden 5-2. As for Yu Delu, Tian Pengfei and Li Yan the race ended before it even started.


Kurt Maflin took a pretty good start by obtaining a 5-4 victory over Robbie Williams, while the mighty Maltese player Tony Drago recorded a 5-1 scoreline by taking one Duane Jones.


The day ended late in the night with Martin O'Donnell and his 5-3 victory over David Grace, but also with one of the most exciting matches of these qualifying rounds, starring players Barry Pinches and Aditya Mehta.


There's no secret that Pinches had a really good run during the Wuxi Classic qualifiers (before losing 5-0 to Tom Ford in the last round) and it seems he's determined to continue it, last night the player that won one of the first PTC events two years ago, winning the battle against the Indian player by 5-4, on the black.


On his FaceBook account, Barry said that "22 years as a pro and have not played in a better quality match".

Also with victories written on their forehead, we have Rod Lawler, who beat Mark Joyce by an amazing 5-0 scoreline, Sam Baird who took a great 5-3 start against Andy Hicks, but also Michael White who scored 5-2 by facing Simon Bedford.
