Four players grabbed a Last 16 place for the 1st time
In life it is for the best to take one step at a time, so when you see yourself winning two consecutive matches in the PTC the only think you can think of is to win another one in order to qualify in the Last 16. For many players this has been proved to be a very hard task although we have already reached the 9th event of this season.

Still, four lucky players have broken the pattern and finally managed to grab a place along with the very best. Their names? Tom Ford, Mike Dunn, Aditya Mehta and Andy Hicks.

Tom Ford is not what you would call a "stranger to winning", the lad lifting last year's PTC 3 event trophy, but somehow he failed to regain that form and move pass the first three matches. Until now that is, because by using the same 4-1 scoreline against all his three opponents (David Grace, Rory McLeod and Fergal O'Brien), Tom secured himself a continuation of the run he's started.

After quite a long period of time when his health wasn't his best friend, Mike Dunn seems to be back. He began his journey by hammering Mark Williams 4-1, continued with a perfect victory of 4-0 over Jimmy Robertson, only to reconsider coming back to base (aka. using the 4-1 result) against Jamie Cope. Mission accomplished.

Judd Trump found his way into the Last 16 easily
A very nice surprise to see the Indian Aditya Mehta booking a place in the Last 16, as well as the Englishman Andy Hicks. Mehta's 4-3 against Mark Joyce, 4-1 in front of Matthew Selt and 4-2 with Luca Brecel have surely done the trick, while for Hicks victories of 4-0 over Andy Van Den Landeghem and the Pink Army's member Gerard Greene, while Mark Selby, the PTC 4 champion, received a 4-1 treatment, guaranteed him a comfy place.

No problem for Judd Trump to get a pass into the "Last 16 league" after winning 4-1 over Martin O'Donnell, 4-2 over Craig Steadman and 4-3 over "The Whirlwind" Jimmy White, the same happening for the current world champion, John Higgins, who beat Matthew Couch 4-2, crashed Ashley Wright 4-0 and hammered the legendary Ken Doherty 4-1.

Last but not least, the "Welsh Dragon" Matthew Stevens decided to thrill his fans and so he used a scoreline of 4-3 against Rene Hemelsoet and Marco Fu and a 4-2 against Mark Davis in order to secure himself a smooth "transition" into the next round, while Martin Gould beat Joe Swail 4-0, Paul Davison 4-2 and Dominic Dale by applying the same 4-2 scoreline to get the last spot left.
